you can fit 6.5" speakers in an EF but you need spacers and its a lot of stuffing around.

By enlarging the hole a tiny bit (nothing noticable), I fit 6.5" fusion midrange speakers. I have the crossovers in the door (in plastic to keep it dry) and I have the tweeters where the manual mirror adjusters would sit (luckily no EF has them).
There wasn't too much stuffing around but if you aren't too confident with this, a 6" speaker should fit without spacers or stuffing around.

with my Alpine type s speakers i had to use a small spacer and then cut the door trim behind the speaker grill to stop them from hitting.

Yes, most 6.5" will fit w/o much hassels, i even got my 6.5" focals in with no cutting or spacers, just 2 extra holes n they were in like hands in a glove.
Cant wait till the are working properly.
