hey all been having some troubles with my Subs... iv got a alpine H/U with max Volume of 40 i have tuned it a while ago so that i can use all the volume range (Vol 40 isnt distorted) but now when i get about about 23 the bass sort of cuts out but still just as load... i have a feeling its to do with the amp or the sub RCA being Split into 2 channels...
hears what im running

Alpine H/U with front rear and sub out(internal amp turned off)
Jaycar Responce 4x100Wrms amp (current model)
2xJenson subs (cheap and nasty)
pair of type-R splits in front (no back speakers as yet...)
one rca cable with three plugs(Red,White and Yellow)
Red and White for Front Left And Right into amp Channel 3 and 4
Yellow for Subs... iv got a splinter at the end that splits it into Channel 1 and 2

any help appreciated

i think what your saying is, when you reach 23 the subs are fine, bass etc fine, but if you keep turning it up the subs dont get any louder?

check the levels on your amp.. if they are maxed out as well i doubt there is much you can do... ive notticed with my POS sony headunit that once its half way on the volume the sub doesnt get much louder.. its definately not linear as you would expect it to be...

does the head unit have a 'loud' setting... make sure its turned down before you turn it on... if i turn that on it almost doubles the volume and bass is way over the top...

subs arnt maxing out... has only recently done this... with volume at 22 bass is fine at 23 its like a loudness button gets turned off (have done a reset on the headunit with no results) i dont think its a problem with the subs i think its either the headunit or lower voltage side of the amp... iv tried running a second earth to a different group point and unplugging one of the subs neither has worked... could be the RCA cables shorting out somewhere...?

sure it doesnt have a loudness or dbass setting thats enabled. Some Sayno decks reduce the 'loud' feature at a certain volume level which has the same effect. Go through the menu turn everything off in relation to sound processing and see if it still occurs

maybe just set the amps to be louder with lower settings on the HU and just dont go over 20 on the HU... lose resolution on the volume but at least it should go louder.. there are some really fcking stupid things programmed in HUs these days, im sure the engineers think they are a good idea at the time but they make no sense to the every day person :/
