doesnt effect the frequencies played but facing it backwards usually makes it louder but "muddier" whilst facing forwards increases SQ
I'd say that is a very broad generalisation and one i do not necdessarliy agree with.

Also sedans are different to hatchbacks, in hatchbacks rear loading is quite often done and soounds very good and definately improves outright SPL.

In sedans IMO that is not the case as your rear loading into the boot.

what i worked out from facing it backwards is that with your faster paced music. eg house, hard techaz, the bass sound s**t house. But if your an rnb person go for gold with mounting it backwards because that vibration is also comfortable.

Cheers

I was just refering to doing it in a ford and i was basing my opinion on what i have heard repeated many times on this forum

I was doing some reading before i installed my system, and some americans did a series of tests with different cars (4wd, sedan, hatch, wagon) and moved the sub around to different spots in the back

They were testing for volume from memory, but the sub facing the back of the car but on the back of the rear seats was consistently the best place to sit it.

I wish i still had the link so i could post it up.

It may also depend on whether your testing only volume or also frequency response. One place may be better for SQ Vs another for SPL purposes.

I will run some tests since i have the equipment to do so...
