Pyroay:- 2 questions if I may.I wish to mount my tweeters on the "A"pillars of my EB.Are this type of mouldings available?Secondly,my kicker KX400.1 subbie amp keeps on dropping into protection mode when I ease the volume up a little. Is there anything I can do to stop this, apart from fitting a fan?

Mounting tweeters on A-pillars can work quite well in raising stage height and helping with imaging.
No A-Pillar mounting is available for the car but you can make them. I made a set for my EL.

Allow about half day for the moulding, fibreglassing and sanding. Then get them vaccum moulded to match the colour and texture.

Part 2: there are a few things that need to be tested to determine why the amp is clipping out. I would say it is more likely dropping out because of low voltage rather than heat.

You can test it.
Does the amp trip out after running a while at high volume or pretty much in 15sec or so?

Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage at the amps input terminals. Most amps drop out around 10v. When you have sudden bass bursts your amp may be drawing excessive current.

What size power cabling are you running? How may amps?

The other thing is what sort of voice coil configuration on the sub? The resistence might be too low and causing the amp to overheat.

So is the harshness inherent with tweeters in the stock position, fairly non-existent when there on the A-pillars?
