Hey guys just put a deposit on 2 X Soundstream Tarantula T5-12 Subs. They are the new model that is replacing the T4s. I wasn't sure which was the better sub out of the T5 and the Reference R1 and the guy in the shop wasn't sure either but said probably the Tarantula. Looking on the soundstream website it says that the Reference R1 is the flagship model etc etc. It also says that the Reference R1 is 800 WRMS and the Tarantulas are 900WRMS. I currently have Tarantula splits in the front and Tarantula coaxials in the rear shelf so I thought that the Tarantulas would match up well with what I already have. If the Reference R1 is the better sub could someone let me know so I can change it. SPL doesn't really bother me I would rather it had better quality. Cheers.

Reference is the better sub for SQ.

it has a tighter, smoother response although slightly lower power handling I dont think a couple of these would leave you wanting.....

Hey Pyroay,

Thanks for replying mate. I have ended up ordering two of the R1s in 12 inch. A few guys over at CAA have helped me out a bit with it. Now I just have to decide on an amp.

Haven't really looked into amps much yet but was thinking the Tarantula monoblock. I will look into the Picasso (I'm guessing) one though. Do you know what the retail is on one of those?
