I want to know what amp and configuration I should run to try to push these subs into the 130db mark.
Street B allows me to run 2 externally bridged amps, what I want to know is it worth buying another one of these amps, or a different one altogether?
What size amp/amps would you recommend to power these subs.
And how big would the box need to be?
Hope this is a bit clearer, cause I can't make hide nor hair of whats been said now.
Thanks again....

Ok best to run a single large monoblock. On your budget i would look at the Jaycar one 1,500rms for $550ish

I would try your current subs for now, they will be fine if the box is designed well.
I dont know the subs well enough to reccomenend a box but around 3.5c/f ported would be the go.

With 2 x 0g runs from the battery, the Jaycar amps, your current subs + good box will get you high 130's................

Yep i was originally looking at 3.6cf but 3.5 is prolly closer would you be able to give me rough dimensions I'd need for a box that size? 25mm MDF?...

sorry guys ohms and all the rest is still a brain f**k for me but i'll have a go.

From the battery I run a 0g cable to the Jaycar 1,500wrms d class mono.
I bridge the subs together to run off this amp.
From my rough (very) calculations this amp running at 4ohms should produce around 700-720w RMS at 12V (battery), is this correct?
But if this is right that equates to around 350-360w RMS, but won't this overload the subs, cause according to what you said before Kev the subs are only 200w RMS.

I just hope I'm not starting to piss you guys off, you are both being really helpful. Much appreciated....

Can you please give us a diagram might help for me to understand better...

You are pretty much right. subs will end up seeing aomewhere around 700rms between them (350rms a piece)

The amount of power subs can handle is dependant upon a lot of factors.
- Obviously the sub built quality itself
- Clean amplifier power
- The frequency being played through the subs and their rated X-max (dont confuse x-max with power)
- box size and tunning.

As mentioned u beleive they would be fine with 350rms each if the box is tuned correctly and the right frequency is played.

Whatever you do dont tune the box to say 40htz ten play any frequencies below that at loud levels.

The subs become unloaded and will x-max until they are destroyed. Music will not be a probelm for everyday listening i am talking about when burping for SPL.

If you design te box right, find the resonant freq of the car then get the larger amp you should do fine. You will also be able to just pop out te subs and put better ones in without needing to re-do anything down the track when your ready.

Your prompting me to do a tutorial just on SPL.......

Thanks again mate.

That would be good too as I have no idea what you mean by the resonant freq of the car
But yeah I'm starting to get the idea...

Also one more thing about the street B class. Are you allowed to run an amp for your front components? cause the rules are a bit unclear for me in regards to this...

I wouldn't mind taking my ute to a test and tune day to see how it goes ... but it sounds like I could be eligible for Street Class B as well.

Now to get the guts to turn up to an event and not look like a N00b that I am when it comes to car audio.
