Well audiobahn have good amps...though they are pretty dear. MTX are also good but again are pretty expensive. Then you have Cadence, JBL, Pioneer and other popular amps which can do well. Being a Pioneer fan and slightly biased I'd say a 4 channel Pioneer amp should be able to power the lot...GM-6200F is the model number BUT it only gives 125W RMS bridged so the sub is underpowered. Though the Peak power of the amp I am unsure of. You could also try an Audiobahn amp which may cost 400 bux though...200W RMS bridged at 4Ohm and 50W RMS per channel. Model number is A4004T or A4004V depending which year. It's a good amp since I have one of the A4004T and hasn't died on me yet *touch wood*.

Umm that is from experience, from what I have heard MTX are better then Audiobahn but that is debatable? and since you said you are not fussed with brand well then you can go for budget Response amps from JayCar...though low cost they deliver good quality amps which perform surprisingly well...

All up to how much dosh you like to spend and what you want to do in the long run. Hope that helped a bit.

phong =P~

my advice.... one word... ebay...

if your only looking to power a 400W sub and a possibly the rear seapkers later on, a Nice cheap say 400-600W 4 channel amp will do it fine.... maybe BOSS as they are nice and cheap, i run a BOSS 4 channel and have had no problems

That's some s**t advice, Southy. Keep away from cheap eBay crap and definitely keep away from BOSS Audio.

it depends on his Budget! no point spending 600 buks on an amp that will do exactly the same thing for what he wants as a cheap one

That's right... But buy a good cheap brand, not a s**t cheap brand. If you're low on money go for something like Jaycar's Response branded amplifiers or look for a second hand name brand.

thats it dont skimp on quality for the sake of saving a few bucks....plus youre up for even more then later if you decide to upgrade...save some cash n get something decent that will suit your needs now and leave room to move in the future....it isnt impossible to do wither even if ya on a tight budget.

Let us know exactly how much you realistically have to spend on just an amp forget cabling etc just the amp...and we can give u a hand.

Heres another bargain mate worth investigating - Alpine MRP-M650
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=532644&highlight=#532644

Wont be any good for amplifying speakers but will be more than enough to power that sub and these are very good amps for alpines new lineup.

=== extract from Rosco's (DRHEMI's) post ====

3 Month old Alpine MRD M650 Amp Class D
V Power Mono Amplifier RRP $499 1000w x Max

600w RMS x 1 @ 2Ohms (14.4v)
400w RMS x 1 @ 4Ohms (14.4v)

Reason for selling is that I want a Bigger Amp

This is the Australian Version - not some eBay import

NOW ONLY $350

==========

u want to know cheap, reliable and great amps.. jaycar response...

i got the new version 2 channel, jaycar response precision 150wrmsx2, 500wrms when bridged (4ohm) amp, running a 500wrms type r alpine sub... amp goes great.... budget item with quality...amp cost around $250 i think from jaycar, ebay would be cheaper. id get it from jaycar as its not much more and if it breaks under warranty u can take it back instantly.
