G'day, Just doing a headunit install in an ED Wagon Fairmont ANd didn't want to chop wires first without getting what colors are what first.

So far, Besides the 4 pairs of wires im assuming are for speakers, i have
Yellow/Grey
Red/Blue
Brown
Yellow/Green
Blue/Black
And Red/Blue.

Since it has a power antenna i need to know also which wire this is.
Never done and install before with an electric antenna.
So yeah, Im mainly after ACC and 12C Constant, cause earth i can obvioulsy DIY and the speakers im hoping will go to plan....

Any help apprecitated
Paul

red blue is ignition from memory, yellow green is constant, blue black is ground, brown is illum. and that leaves yellow grey for power ant. but i may be wrong :P

Ahh gee that was a bloody quick response!

Thanks for the link mate, didn't see that.

Also another question.
Should i do it that way, Or just buy a harness? The thought just occured to me after posting this up that i can just use a bloody harness!

Also have to run a few RCA's but thats easy...
Umm...should i just go the harness route?

Well if you aren't confident with slicing up the wires, and want to be able to change bact to the stock unit easily, then yeah, why not, it's only a few bucks!

Sweet, may aswell do that
I am confident in the wire splicing
Its mainly the cbf factor
After installing coax's in the rear of the ED wagon, and a pair of 6.5" Splits in the front, on a 38 degree day, i really want tomorrow to end nice and quick!

I used spacers as the VDO Dayton splits had a very large basket.
Twas all good till they hit the freeken door trim....ah well...

Thanks for the replys guys :)

Well we got it working!

Until for some reason, everything worked, but no sound came out of the speakers? We were stumpted, nothing was being earthed accidentally behind the HU or anything, it was very strange.

He traced it down to the Left hand front door wiring, when we closed it, it would short out and none of the speakers would work!

One thing im amazed at is how much of a perfect fit the pioneer HU was in the ED.
We just screwed the old mouting brackets to the new HU and in she went, looked almost factory.
Much easier to do then my magna i tell ya that.

Anyway thanks for the tips guys..
o btw, Anyone know of someone in vic Selling a drivers side complete Mirror for an EL? (Paint code "H")
