I will be bolting on a set of 17x8 EL GT copies, the rubber will be 45 profile my current 15 inchers are 65 profile as per when I bought it many moons ago, will I need to carry out a speedo adjustment, having an Ex-chaser I believe this is possible, but will it be needed and if so anyone know how.

it should be pretty close..

235/45/17 is about the same overall size as 225/ 65/15...
so i dont think you really need to worry....

you dont, its only when the rim and tyre size exeeds the original recommended tyre spec. but then you'd need a engineers report and the speedo is the least of your problems.

i have gt's on and they work a treat, but i'd love a set of chasers to go to the drags with. CARN THE YELLOW TAXI!

17s with 50 series tyres on eb (to replace xr6 15s) and speedo is perfect. 8-)

As above it is total size of rima nd tyre not size of rim alone. 8-)

nice, thanks guys, might have a set of chasers for sale with rubber, if I decide to part with them, I have already come back to them once after trying a set of ef fairmont alloys that made the car handle like crap.

I went from 15s on the old car, to 17s, and the speedo was only out 4 kms at 140.

Also guys, don't forget, when you increase the rolling diameter, the speedo is actually faster than the car. It's only if you go from bigger rolling diameter to smaller that you have to worry about it.

Basically it make 2/3's of bugger difference anyway, unless ur going from 19's to 14's....
