What are the down points of putting 22inch wheels on the rear of a ba xr6t and 20 inch wheels on the front.

When I get too a computer I will upload photos. It won't let me on my phone

I think they are too big and you will look like a dodo

Why would you risk damaging your guards and getting defected just to look hectic ?
Not to mention your wheels will buckle straight away as soon as you hit a pothole.
I think anything bigger than 19s is asking for trouble. BUT..... thats my opinion.

I have seen the 20/22 combination on a BA before.

It looks very striking to say the least (The sheer size of the rim under the rear of the car is nuts).

However it all comes down to opinion, some people will like it others may not. The legalities of going that big with rims is that even on the front you are putting rims that are deemed illegal in size for the car. Im not sure what its like in other states, however, Queensland Transport says that you are only allowed to deviate +/- 2 inches of the standard rim size. The BA xr6 turbo had a stock rim size of 17" which means that in Queensland you can have no bigger than 19" without having to have it looked at by an engineer.

As 93EB said if you hit a pothole, unless they are extremely high quality (but lets face it, with 22" wheels there is not enough sidewall on the tyres to really make it up.), you are going to break something if you hit a pothole. It is the same with even using a 17" rim but having a very small side wall tyre, the tyre becomes to rigid and allows more of the shock force to go through the rim, ultimately leading to catastrophic failure. Just google "potholes and large rims" and have a read of a few of the articles.

Ultimately it comes down to your own personal preference as well as having the knowledge to back it up. I seriously would suggest getting in contact with your states Transport authorities and asking them because they will know for sure what to do and who to talk too if you want to continue down that path.

TL;DR: Do your research first before considering anything. Also Potholes = Evil

The other point to consider is, unless you can match the rolling diameter right, it'll mess with traction control (stability if you have it. not on a BA).

Tyres and rims that big, also have a detrimental affect on handling/performance.

no sidewall, means no compliance with the road, the wheel+tyre will skip more rather than gripping.
bigger = heavier, heavier = slower (for both acceleration AND BRAKING).
bigger/heavier wheels add more stress onto suspension components, wearing them out faster.
less sidewall = increased change of damage on crummy roads (seems they're everywhere these days)

Personally I think over sized wheels are colossally stupid. The above are some technical reasons why it's stupid.

FWIW I actually put smaller wheels on the GT-P when I go racing (factory 19's, run 18's).

" What are the down points of putting 22inch wheels on the rear of a ba xr6t and 20 inch wheels on the front. "

You will totally and utterly destroy the handling of the car , spend your entire life avoiding a matchhead on the road for fesr of damaging a rim , will follow the camber of the road , massively increase your tyre replacement cost , unless engineered void your insurance , massively increase your braking distances and at the end of the day looks bloody wanky too .

Some of your info is extremely incorrect. Queensland do not use the archaic "2 Inch Rule". It is Rolling Diameter +15mm -25mm from factory. 22's are illegal and gay though.

Why pick on 67RCE, he's been factual. As have we all.

If you still want to do it, go ahead, you know what you'll be risking:

- Poor performance,
- illegal sizing, and
- no insurance.

But it'll be hecktik.
