If it has a s**t of paint on it use paint stripper if not start sanding
Cam paint stripper from a panel beating supplies is the best

Hey i got a white car and im wondering how to make the paint look whiter, like when it has just been painted? It looks dirty even after i finished washing the car. Also how much would a detailer cost to detail the car?

I would suggest a good cut & polish expect around $200 for the cut & polish either a panel shop or detailer would do this.Once this has been done use a good quality polish with a high content of carnuba wax once a month to keep it looking good

nlbxr6,
Question re car park dints in doors etc.
I have heard that they can be pulled out with-out damaging the paint.. (The paint is not chiped nor is the panel creased..) Does this work.? Is the finish like new or is the only / best way to fill and repaint...?
Any info would be great.

They either pull them or push them if there is access if you get a good tech they do a fantastic job & save a lot of money
Tony Beeton is a really good tech in melbourne 0400448733 from Dent Wizard

where did you get the paint from they should be able to tint the colour around to match but you will need to take a part of your car to match it to.The formula probably wont help unless you have access to a mixing bank

what model have you got.I would suggest a cut section from a wrecker or if the local Ford dealer has one you could buy a brand new pillar and weld it in

i've painted a few cars in the past with acrylic. i'm by no means a show painter but a goodenoughfornorm painter. the colour i'm about to paint my car came with a basecoat which i've never used before.

how do i do the basecoat thing? do i apply it as a coat and then apply the topcoats straight away? do i block the basecoat back before applying the topcoats? do i put it on and let it set for a few days before applying the topcoat? etc

cheers,
Norm :)

Im with above, ive got a HJ gts monaro that im looking at getting soda blasted so i can find out whats going on with the body, before repainting it in standard colour, which happens to be sunset mandarin. Apparently it starts off with a yellow base coat, followed by an orange top coat. And id believe that. The fool who painted it previously left patches yellow where he missed while making his passes over the panels. Is it worth having a try at repsraying myself?
