Has anyone attempted or seen attempted change over of the BA XT front grill?? Looking at maybe a Mesh Inset and was wondering if changing this would weeken the front bar or cause any significant problems at all??
Picture of the piece I'm talking about:

i'm pretty sure i might be wrong that it is held in by scrivits... but i might be wrong...

or maybe cut out the grooves and put the mesh behind...

**Off topic**

Did you buy your shift kit or build it yourself?

Nah like most things, if theres an easy way to do it, I'll look at that option first whether its build ir or buy it... I'm pretty good with wiring, but that was just too much of a brain straing for me at the time, just bought it from shiftkits.com, on/off type, not adjustable - $80 and I know I could've built it for less but neh it works...

On the front bar, theres that black plastic in there at the moment, and not sure if its structural to the bottom section of the bar or not...

i can't quite remeber if that is solid or not...

cause if it wasn't you could always put the mesh behind, or if you were confident...

Use the black plastic to mould the mesh... and the replace the black with mesh... but you would have to be spot on with cutting the mesh...

**Cheers for the info on the shift kit**

No worries bout the shift kit...

On the black plastic but, I was thinking of ripping it out and replacing the lot with the mesh...

Also saw a BA ute (non XR) with the top grill redone in mesh - interesting effect.... Don't think I would do it though, but would be keen in repainting the top grill black instead of the gun metal grey - any trick to removing it to paint, or is it pretty easy/follow your nose sort of stuff??

The top grill would be POP... (Peice of Piss)

just 4 screvits at the top near the radiator. and then it pretty much lift's out...

but i wouldn't... unles you remounted the Ford logo in the center.. then that would be cool

Yeah but I could reverse the question why the phark would you live in Cairns... Its hot enough here!! Besides, yeppoon, although not noted in the past for it, rocks with the amount of single hot chicks, not to mention the backpackers and tourists stopping off in yeppoon on their way to Great Keppell!! Its eye candy galore!! I reckon (and not to sell myself short here by any standard) a mutant swamp donkey with the IQ of an eggplant could hook up in Yeppoon - its far too easy - although I am from Brisbane where the chicks have gone super-snobbish and to try and hook up with a chick you need to be spending more than your pay on dinners and expensive sh*t for 2 months before you get to nail her...

Anyway, back on topic... Yeah I'll do up a techo doc on the removal paniting and refitting - hopefully the badge isn't plastic welded on, otherwise I'll have to mask it up...

I'm pretty sure the logo just clips into place... but you might have to neaten it up with a dremel or something after...
