Hello Fordmodders 8-)

(EB Falcon XR6)
Can the grey moulds with red inserts be seperated from the rear and front bumbers?
Can the red insert stripes be removed from the Grey moulds without causing damage?

"purple monkey dishwasher"

Thankyou

The Front and Rear bars on your EB have a red mould that is an insert or grey or Chrome. You can still buy NEW the red mould and need about 5 metres. The door moulds are made in ONE piece as in Grey/Red/Grey.

I had an EB before I got my AU and wanted to put the XR/S pack moulds on it but unfortunately they were no longer available new from Ford. I did look at getting Used ones but most were pretty bad looking.

The red strip in the Mould is not the same as the one for the bars, it is thicker and a lil wider so may not but totally successful. I guess you could try using that bar Red stripe and see if it would look ok for you and I guess you would have to araldite the red stripe to the Grey pieces??

I couldn't find anyone who made these moulds after market but maybe someone else would know? The originals were made in Victoria.
Hope that helps a little?

BTW, the Part number for the Red bar mould is RED17W970A30M and is sold by Metre.

I am forced to replace atleast one as somebody thought it would be a great idea to back into my passenger door. The damage is very minor but the mould and strip look slighty misshappen. I was hoping the door was alright under the moulds but under light reflection you can see evidence of a dent, I wonder how much it will cost to get that squared up

The incident involved a family member with a convenient and consistent Zero Dollar bank balance. So I will be wearing the repair cost... although most people wouldn't bother as its very minor..... but I know its there (shaking fist)

I was thinking of changing to the ED XR red strip, I can recall it being a deeper (nicer IMHO) red.

You could always paint the strip in the colour of your choice.

Check out Troymans Garage Thread. He painted his strip black.

I am keen on painting them.

My concern is being able to put it back to original, so keeping the red strips aside and painting different ones...

From what Papa Smurf indicated (thankyou for the reply by the way) the front/rear bumber moulds are easy to change/replace with New mould but how hard are these door and side strips to get.

If that makes sense

For the side the side mold is one piece. I don't think you can buy new replacements. You will probably have to acquire second hand parts and paint those.
