Anyone know what the legality is for coloured parker lights..?
I can understand Red and Blue ones being illegal or defectable.

I've done a bit of a search through http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au and found nothing.

I've got green ones on my car and have never been questioned about it before.
I ask as the nice orficers gave me a $75 revenue invoice this morning.

This was the most promising link(page 5) i found regarding it, not even listed as an offence.

And you're not allowed red ones visible from the front of the car, and no whites ones (number plate light excluded) are allowed on teh read of teh car.

Basically, you can't do anything.

use your common sense, there not going to allow you to make your car look like a christmas tree with all sorts of colour lights. look at cars and trucks they only have white/yellow on front and side and red on back (white for reverse lights), so it is highly likely that these are the only colours you will get away with!

I see a s**t of road trains and semi-trailers getting around with blue LEDs on the front and blue running lights. Wouldn't you imagine they'd get a fair bit of attention?

As for red being illegal on the front and white illegal on the back, the logical reasoning is that it's nice for other people not to be confused what direction your car is headed, particularly on the highway. Same reason the reflector posts are red on the left and white on the right; they're the same colour as the lights you should be seeing on that side of the road.

Red only visible from the rear
Orange for clearance and indicators allowed front, rear and sides
Clear on front only (the ice blue globes are legal)

As for blue, green etc you run em at your own risk

Take my word for it

i think limo's are allowed the ones on the side as it indicates that it is a long vehicle. and i have onle ever seen white and yellow side lights on a limo...

but just because i havnt seen it dosnt mean it dosnt exist
