Yeh, I've found out now that there are "personalised" and "customised" number plates...

Personalised number plates must be 6 characters long, Letters then numbers, in that order.

Customised plates can be just about anything but cost a lot more...

cant help you much with the SA rules but custom (personal) plates add the unique touch that no one else can have. (eg. EB with a GT body kit). in Qld, personal plates have no annual fees at all just an upfront purchase costand they belong to you forever. as a result i have 8 sets of plates of which 4 are hanging up on the wall in my shed. consider getting something that could be swapped to your next car if required. If your next one is 2007 GT40 then EFGT94 might look a bit out of place
8-)

Haha! true that... Yeh... I need a bit of brainstorming happening here!

If they don't cost a fortune straight up then I'm definately getting them. Just never really thought about it before I guess...

Personalised plates are a one off 170 bucks in SA.
What you get in the plate will probably hit you at the weirdest time

Haha! Something to think about while I'm in my Chemistry exam tomorrow

Yeh, like you said, $170 first off. Absolute bargain if you ask me! I always thought they'd be thousands!

one of the best custom plates i have seen here in Sa is L84WRK. That number plate would have an anual fee. I am looking to get the Plates SHR-017 and SHR-018 For my car and bike. Both thoes plates are once off fee's.

Custom/personalised plates are good, but once on your car you have to be very careful what you do, because your car stands out from the rest. The local police will know who you are very quickly.

Just another thing to consider! ;)

Yeh... I drive like a grandma 99% of the time coz I love my car too much :D and I try to make sure I keep all things on my car road legal. Only things that aren't at the moment are my lights (no red reflectors) and my 18" wheels (pretty sure the biggest you can hav is 17")...

But yeh, that's definately something I need to think about.

Maybe that's why that cop pulled you over instead of the Ricer Brad...
