Talk about irony...

So yeah I was driving up to a mates house at about 8:45 PM. She lives just outside of the suburbs in a countryish area (Two Wells here in South Australia) and I was driving my EF down Pt Wakefield road (freeway), travelling about 120 km/h, when this big f**k dog, or a small cow just casually crosses the road. There was a Magna next to me, and the animal walks straight across, the Magna just misses it, and BANG! into the front right hand side of my car! Completely cracked the front bar, and skirting. I had no room to move as it just pretty much appeared out of no where! And the Magna was next to me, so I couldn't swerve.
So what happened, I pulled over to assess the damage. Thankfully there was no bonnet damage, headlight damage, just purely cosmetic bumper bar damage, a slight push in of the front right panel where the indicator is (that was cracked also).
I called my friend and told her to bring a saw as I had to cut half the bumper off, it was hanging down and not safe to continue driving.

Now the ironic thing (or coincidence, I still having trouble knowing the definition of irony, hehe).
A couple of days before hand, I ordered my new front bar, which is that GT front bar. So is it a sign? or motivation, so to speak, to quickly put it on? hahaha.
But yeah, can't wait for it to arrive, and fit it, would look nice on a white car :).

But as my car still is at Two Wells, my means of transportation at the moment is my motorbike, ahh all is well....

So i'll get some pics when i'm up at Two Wells next, post the pics of the damage, and then when my front bar is all put on and stuff :)

Ohh and as this is still Exterior Mod section, I have a set of 18inch rims in the machined style arriving soon. (RJR Tremor) is the name of the rims. I've got them on layby, purely because of the fact that I don't want them right away, maybe in a couple of weeks, when I sort out the side skirts and whether I want a rear bar, keep the rear stock, or just have a tickford rear skirt on the rear. Any opinions will be appreciated.

I'll keep you's posted!

hahaha, well, after I sorted out my car first (PRIORITIES!!!) even if it was to saw half the bar off, I then jumped in her car and we drove back to the scene and we couldn't find it on the side of the road anywhere... I had my pistol ready to blow a hole in it's head... But no sign of it anywhere. hehehe, nah I don't have a pistol.. BUT NO SYMPATHY FOR THE ANIMAL!

You got off lightly I reckon.....Lucky it wasn't bonnet and headlight damage (Or worse still....Radiator support panel damage).
My mate hit a wombat late at night a few months back......Just about wrote off his car.

My new front bar should be arriving tomorrow, then get it fitted and painted.. and next week, I should get my mags put on :)

I still need side skirts, but I don't think i'm going for a rear bar...

Looks like the extent of the damage is more than what was initiall thought..
A friend of mine was going to drive it to the workshop to get the damage looked at and the front bar put on, but she didn't even get 1 k from her house untill the serpentine belt snapped. So she had to limp it back to her house, stopping every so often to let it cool down.

The car was towed to the workshop the next morning.

Now, looks like there was more than cosmetic damage, unfortunately. The shroud is damaged, the water pump and thermostat have ceased, the airconditioning compressor is damaged, the thermo fans are damaged, and it needs a serpentine belt obviously. That and the fact that the front bar has no brackets?? Is going to make the job much bigger and difficult.
My 'friend's' (hehe) stepdad is doing the mechanical repairs because he owns the mechanical buisness, so he is going to look after me.. He gave me a worst case scenario price of $1500 to fix! But he isn't going to put the front bar on anymore because it's not his field of expertise, so the price will for sure drop down dramatically.

All the body work, is going to be done by a very good family friend of theirs, who will have to put on the front bar, and the rest of the kit, and paint it all for me (and probably straighten up the front right guard).. Once again, at a very resonable price. But it will be a bigger job than once thought, I think he might need to fibreglass brackets onto it and stuff... ahhh bloody hell.. Uneccessary money to be spent. I can't believe the damage has been this big.

And i'm pretty sure I hit a wombat... it was huge! It was walking across the road, and it had a longish snout, like wombats do. Matches the description of what I thought I saw just before I hit it.
