Hey guys, just need a bit of help, my bonnet is being resprayed, so i had to leave my bonnet and the panel i bought there to be resprayed, as i need my car over the weekend and it was going to take him a couple of days to get it done. Obviously i couldnt drive around with no bonnet, so he lent me an EF bonnet, i figured it would fit on perfectly, because if you do the XR conversion you just need to replace the bonnet with an EF bonnet as per the doco, this doesnt seem to be the case, the bonnet doesnt entirely close, the reason for this is because of the latchy thing that you pull to lift it up after pulling the lever from inside the car, the bonnet is litterly sitting on the actual latch that you put your hand on... should this be happening? thing is, the bonnet with close, but now i cant open it again! luckly i was able to remove the ford badge grill area prior to putting the EF bonnet on.
So now that you are aware of this strange perdicament, any help on solving the problem would be appreciated, i have 3 days to get a solution, because in 3 days i have to return the bonnet and put the lovely resprayed bonnet back on :)
any help will be greatly appreciated
thanks heaps guys!
PS i got Performance Ford mag, and it was a great read on the Dyno day for the NSW boys, good stuff!!

i'm lost - have you got an XR front end on your car now or not? :? cause if you don't, then the EF bonnet won't fit...

EF Bonnet is the same as an EL XR6, EF XR6 Bonnet without scoops cut out.

EL bumpers, and EF Fairmont/Fairlane and all EL in general will NOT fit any ef gli, futura or XR bonnets with that bar on ..

ef/el xr bar will fit an ef bonnet however.

ok well i dont have the XR conversion on, but i just figured without the badge area grill it should have fitted, as there isnt anything in the doco about needing to move the latch that holds the bonnet down... and it doesnt look like it could be moved anyway, so regardless, XR conversion or not, it should have still fitted perfectly, and its not an EF Fairmont/fairlane bonnet, its just a regular EF bonnet on my EL, thanks for the quick responses btw

i guess in the doco it should say that if we put an EF bonnet on an EL for the XR conversion, we also need to change the catch that holds it down

hmm really? can i get a bit more detail on that? cause the bonnet is sitting on the actual handle, so its i cant pull the handle up without pulling up the bonnet, and i cant pull the bonnet up without pulling the handle, and it can't be done at the same time.. more detail would be greatly appreciated, thanks champ
