Hi all,

I've just had the Venom bodykit fitted to my EF (see my gallery), and would welcome any opinions from you guys!

I've had a couple of semi-negative comments on the bonnet scoop (with hole cut in bonnet in snorkel recess), which I had fitted as a functional thing to allow more air into my intake snorkel!

What do you think overall? Is the scoop a bit OTT?

I was thinking of adding an identical scoop on the other side of the bonnet to even things up a little, or maybe going for a couple of XR-style bonnet vents (with one over the now-cut bonnet hole!)

Any suggestions would be great!

P.S. Someone else also suggested I replace my Yellow headlights too, any idea where I can pick up some CLEAR ones? (I think I saw some on ebay)

CHEERS ALL!

markr154, for the indicators they are hard to get a hold of apparently, I might try soon to get them...

only thing IMO that doesnt look too good is the scoop... but if you like it :)

how much would a pair of the side skirts cost me?

try ebay anyway for the indicators, plenty come up for AU and EA-ED but not too many for the EL-EF's .. they'll go for around $20-$30 without shipping if you're interested

Thanks Trick!

Like I said, it was supposed to be more functional than cosmetic!

I've never understood how the snorkel was supposed to suck ANY air in that tiny STD recess with the bonnet down, anyhow!

I guess I was just trying to let things 'breathe' a little!

Cheers.

i like the scoop idea, was thinking same thing. but maybe the scoops to big??. i know it sounds horible  but would a monaro scoop the front vent bit not the whole thing. work, perhaps a little more streamlined???

http://www.fast-autos.net/holden/vzmonaro17.jpg

just an idea, the rest of the kit looks good.

i dont like the scoop, but i like the idea of the scoop.
i dont think that the xr scoops would suit it at all in the position it is...and i dont know wat would...
do you notice any improvement with it?

Bodykit looks good, the scoop doesn't but I think it would look good if it was mounted in the centre of the bonnet

I hate the scoop. Would probably be alot better if it was more subtle... like instead of having a plastick scoop stuck on the bonnet, i think it would have been better to cut into the bonnet and kinda peel it slighly back, and than bog up around it so it looks like it's moulded on the hood... IMHO that sitck up waay too much.. otherwise the car is looking great, but i've never been a fan of the front bar, mainly because you can see the stuff behind it... should maybe stick some mesh there... overall though i give it 7.5 out of 10...

Well, at least the scoop is a good talking point!

There actually is Silver mesh behind the front bar (just not showing up in shots).

As for the scoop's performance, I can definitely hear (and feel) the air going in when I get someone to rev the car in Neutral while I place my hand/ear near it.

I can only imagine that there would have to be a greater air rush into the scoop when on the road!

I think that I will stick with it for the mo' as it is doing it's job, and try to dream up a more streamlined alternative ...so any ideas would be welcome!

Good idea, except that my bonnet has now already been cut above the snorkel recess!

I guess I could go with a wider (but flatter) scoop that stretches across the bonnet so the hole would be covered on 1 side...

As the others have said - kit good, scoop bad. I don't think you'll be able to put anything over the whole in that location and have it look good either, so it looks like you've stuffed you bonnet :x

Expensive lesson, but it's a good idea to photoshop and "non-conventional" mods like this that are some what irreversible.
