Hi there, just wanted to see if anyone could think of any disadvantages to cutting holes in the plastic plates that go underneith the xr nostrils on the bonnet to relieve abit of engine bay heat, i couldnt really think of any but i dont want the heat to harm my paint or anything stupid like that ahah, (im rather anal lol)
Jus figured it may help cool the engine bay etc coz theyre right behind the themos, Cheers everyone

This is exactly what these are designed for mate, the vents are at the front in a low pressure area of the bay as The holes are cut heat will be drawn out therefore cooler bay cooler running temps this will not eat or damage your paint.

Theyre designed for looks though. Have you looked under the bonnet of a EL? Mine has plastic covers underneith, you cannot see thru the hole where the mesh is, i pulled them appart the other day to repaint the mesh, i just had the thought of cutting a hole in the plastic so it is then an actual vent to let air thru,

You'll need to mark where they are on the bonnet remove the tops and drill thru the hood, it will have no effect what so ever if there is no holes for these vents and just drilling holes up underneath the hood thru the plastics won't achieve anything either unless there's a hole in the bonnet itself. Originally on these cars they're just for show but there of wanted, maybe the v8 xrs have them drilled thru?

just take the plastic covers off and do them back up. thats what i did with my ef xr ones, and my mates el xr ones.
