Hey guys considering buying a set of 4 EL GT rims off a guy, but he says he doesnt no if they r genuine or not, is there any way of finding out if they are genuine?
And also one of the rims have a crack through one of the spokes, is this pricey to fix? Thanks for your help guys |

i would say $300 is not a bad price, you could maybe offer slightly less?,
you got to weigh up how much is it going to cost to fix the crack? i guess it depends where the crack is? if the crack is through the front, that will meen you will probably have to get the rims re painted so they all look the same?? |

very good point mate i didnt even think of painting it, it is thru the front so id b guessing id have to give them a spray which wont be cheap. Thanks for the tips troyman i am giving a couple places a call to see how much it will cost to fix the crack, anything else different about the non genuine ones, like they arent worse in regards to quality are they?

i would say the quality is much the same, they are both cast alloy..
the main way to tell the difference in genuine and copies are the centre caps. the genuine ones have a larger centre cap with the ford logo.. the copies have a smaller cap with tickford wings.. and a good second hand set of genuine gt rims can go for anywhere from $2000-$4000. the copies were sold new for around the $1000 for the set.. huge difference in price.. |

Weren't genuine GT rims 8.5" wide and copies only 8"?
