One of the upper parts of the GT Suspension was modified so that the 8.5 in rim would clear. Otherwise the tyre got rubbed out from the inside.

There has been talk of that part in these forums. Unfortunately Im getting old (35) and have alzheimers (or the next best excuse) and cant remember the exact detail.

I had the 8in version on my last EB (its in Sydney somewhere with a LOT of RWHP now ;( )

The Colour is called Champaigne

There is no difference in the front suspension on an ELGT, the stub axle is different only where the caliper bolts on, upper control arms are identical, and there is no rubbing issues with 8.5 inch rims on falcons, trust me, I have enough EL/NL Falcons here, and have an ELGT.
There was 2 colours of EL GT wheels too, the later is less gold than the earlier as I posted above. Early ELGT's had very gold wheels, and copped media criticism, and the latter ones had lighter wheels. My GT is car 51 and has the very gold wheels, and I have 4 other sets of them, 3 the lighter, and another early set.

Insurance : an 8 in wide rim is ok as our cars were fitted with 7 in rims out of the factory. 8.5in rim is not ok.

how ever the ELGT rim is a standard factory fitment item, the ELGT was clasified as a falcon not as some completly different car, what that means is for a standerd road vehicle EL falcon you are legally allowed to fit tyres that are 1 inch larger and 1 inch wider than maximum factory spec, this is correct by ADR's, it is when you start messing about and going in excess of 1 inch in either direction or playing with the offsets and adjusting the vehicle track that you will find yourself in trouble.

Ahh el gt's, the ultimate wheel for any e-series falcon. Can make a normal looked after car look shmick and a car with little mods look even better.
