For something different I put in a set of blue LED's to light up my number plate. And I also put in a set of blue LED parker globes. Are these legal in Victoria? So far I haven't been hassled by the police so I'm guessing they are okay.

Blue, green, purple etc are all illegal. Orange is for clearance lights and indicators and are not to be used across the front of a vehicle. Red is for the rear and no red lights should be visible from the front. Clear lights only facing forwards. Exceptions to this rule are factory reversing lights and number plate lights.

All that being said I have only been hassled by the cops once in my ute and it turns out that the cop had no idea as what he was trying to sticker me for was legal. Did ask a cop at a ute show once (he was a judge BTW :P ) and he said he had better things to do than hassle sensible people about their lights as long as the lights weren't rediculous. So it's the same old story: don't drive like a d***head and they probably won't hassle you :D .

BUT they are illegal 8-)

It would be nice to believe that, however some police don't have anything better to do than nab you for blue lights.

I got done for some on my old commodore. Bit of a fine and a point. Wont do it again...over that look these days anyway

So yeah, your lucky if you get away with it...but its only a matter of time until you will get done

Just as I thought....I'll probably take them out and try them in my dash.

It is also against the law to have red and blue lights inside the car,
that make a visable glow that can be seen from the outside of the car.

I dont know about perth,
but you would have to think that any light's on your car
that could be mistaken as police light's would be against the law.
I had a ricer up my a*** in Sydney rd Brunswick 2 weeks ago,
He had red and blue strobe neons in his car, when I pulled to one side he went past me,
I then noticed it was just a ricer causing s**t,
I next saw him pulled up out side of Optus Oval being booked by the coppers.

Let's hope not. B series XR's and FPV's all have blue interior lighting. :D

Yep, agreed. Back when I used to be interested in lights and crap like that, I was pulled over for having blue and red strobes in a car - said I could have been charged with impersonating the police.....in a 82 Kombi van!

The laws regarding lights are ADR's so they're Australia wide.
