hey all

looking at fitting my fairmont boot garnish this weekend - does anyone have any ideas/tips/suggestions etc on how best to do this? by the looks of it its ~4mm drill bit i'll be needing - might go get a brand spanking new one rather than use the rusty ones around home :? and yes i know - measure twice drill once! :P

All i did was used a piece of cardboard, made a templete out of that, placed the cardboard on the bootlid, maked it with a perm marker, double checked a few mesurments to make sure the marks were level and the centre was the centre of the boot lid, drilled the holes and used a very small file to get the wholes right (they make files for that reason lol), touched up the wholes with a bit of paint so they wont rust, and bolted on the garnish. All up it took about 20mins, and i was apprehensive about it myself getting the holes right but ended up being very easy..

Heres a pic straight after i put it on..

well, it has been done! :P

greg & i are now running around with 'Fairmont' and 'Ghia' boot garnishs respectively!

all went smooth as - used the rubber backing from a spare garnish to match up where the garnish would sit, marked the holes, applied some masking tape over to stop the drill-bit slipping. thanks to greg for drilling mine, lol due to me having the shakes! :?

both sit perfectly, and look schmicko! neither of us had cameras to take pics, so s**t happens! i'm sure we'll do another one sometime soon, so we'll do some instructions then.

i'll get some before & after shots later today! :)

Oooooh, garnish pretty :D
Nice job!
Wish I'd put masking tape on my boot when putting on the lip spoiler...
Let's just say that spoiler ain't coming off unless I got a new boot lined up... :P
