Hi all,

The seal around the rear windscreen on my 2000 Futura has hardened and cracked on one side.

Can anyone recommend a good softener for this application?
Thought about using WD-40 but i'm sure there is a better alternative out there...

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Once the seals harden up they become brittle so you'd be better off replacing it. I don't think there is a effective method that can restore them properly.

I was afraid of that, from what i've heard replacing that seal involves
removing the whole windscreen to do it properly....

Have you tried calling some locals to get a quote to do it?

I had the same problem on the back window of my BA. I got it fixed at Obrien which involved removing the back window. Cost me $180 bux. My mates BF XR is now doing the same. You will also find the rubbers going down the sides of the windscreens will start lifting also.

I have that problem right now and I would like to have it fixed pronto.

Questions

1. Do you need to purchase the new seals from Ford? If so, how much did it cost?

2. Does the windscreen mob carry these seals?

I'm in Brisbane area.

Cheers, Peter
