|
does anyone know where i can get a HID conversion kit for an NC fairlane cheapish? my headlights are s**t and i want to upgrade to something desent. seen it done on a few cars now. where do you get them from?

ebay prolly have the cheapest hid kits out there...
for good reason tho - they are truely crap! might get lucky and have a set that might last a short time, but the ballasts are cheap inferior quality for a start which shortens the lifespan quite a lot. if your going to do it, do it properly and spend good money on it no point having to spend it twice.. IMO

to do it properly you need to get the proper hid projectors, they are different than the halogen projectors...

I would recommend not fitting H3 HID to your lights and fit high/low type to the H4 side, as there is a delay for how quick it takes a HID filament to fully light up, turning HIDs on and off reduces their life span, as high beam is something often switched on and off rapidly HIDs are not the ideal thing to use for high beam unless it is the type that doesn't actually switch the filament on and off. I used to have an EL poverty model fitted with H1 and H3 HIDs, the H3 HIDs were awesome for high beam except for the fact of the delay which makes them near useless for flashing your lights to warn someone..

I think that you will find that nc fairlane's have H1 globes fitted for low beam and high beam. Yes they are s**t head lights i put 100W for my low beam. I have had them in for over a year and no problems at all

I totally agree with Macca. I have the xenon HID for my low beams and they do take about 5 secs to 'warm-up'. They crap all over the standard ones I had, even though they weren't crap, and then made my high beams seems like lows. I ended up putting in some slightly brighter and whiter normal halogen globes for the highs to match but still give the quickness, if that makes sense. BTW i got my set from ebay - About $160 all up
