Data_Mine A question to you mate
What colour HID did you fit to your Fog Lamps ? If you've read each of my earlier posts, you would see that to my 2004 BA Futura, I fitted 4300k Hi/Lo to the H4's and 6000k to the H7's. On my Hi-lux I fitted 4300k Hi/Lo to the H4's. I arrived at these colours after a lot of research. That research along with my own experience, tells me that 3200k would be best in the fog lamps, coz it's a yellower light, which cuts through the mist/fog/rain better than the higher kelvin colours. Your thoughts would be much appreciated, as I'm about to do something with my 2005 XR6. Will probably go all out, and do all 6 lights in various HID's. And a question of everybody ,,,,, Anybody had any experience with XenonOz. His HID's are 10 times the cost of whats advertised on eBay. I've spoken to him, and he claims his stuff is all made in Germany & Japan. He says the stuff on eBay is made in China / Korea / Tiawan, and that it's all rubbish. All the HID's I've fitted have been off eBay, and not a problem. Would appreciate some feedback on any experiences, either good or bad on this. Cheers

I've got 6000K all around (headlights and fogs - I use them as DRLs).
You think it'd be hard to miss a GT-P next to you on the road, but nooooooo Canberrans still always tried to merge on top of me. The HIDs in the spotties - that I use all the time, have almost eliminated idiots trying to change lanes into me. However, what you've said is true, a yellower light will cut through fog better as it reflects on water (aka fog) less, than the bluer light of higher colour temperatures.

i've got the 6000k ones for my el xr6 they look smik the 6000k is the brightest avalible after that its just colour mine are whitish blue 8000k is blue 12,000 is violet and 14,000k is purple but there not leagal the 6000k is though

Wow, haven't seen 55W HIDs in action (where'd you get them?).
I've got 35W 6000K low/high, and 55W halogen highs. Here's 35W 6000K HID vs, 55W halogen   Back on the topic of fog lights, now you can get yellow HIDs (about 3000K I think). edit:

They're just cheap eBay jobs from HK. One of my Ballasts died, so I ordered 2 full new sets of HID's - they're so damn cheap!

old thread but oh well..
ordered a 6000k H1 hid kit off ebay on friday night to fit in my ef. its from a supplier in melbourne and only cost $100. has anybody fitted them them themselves or has everyone just paid someone to do it? thinking ill try it myself, they dont seem to hard to fit but ill have to look when they arrive.

If you can change a lightbulb you should be able to manage. If not, you shouldn't be working on a car.

I used to work at a truck parts/service company and we used to con the boss into promo nights for a great excuse to drown ourselves in free beer and make a fool of ourselves amongst suppliers and key account customers alike (so much that the boss ordered light beer from then on in
 tosser)Anyways, one night we doing an oil display, and the boys were out the back in the carpark blind as anything and being the boys from the bush, they all had to see who had the biggest mudflaps, loudest feral exhaust, and of course, the brightest lights. So I brought the HIDs out the back and said I'd show them how good they were etc. Just ONE HID driving light (5400 series IIRC) outshon two utes with a set of lightforce XGTs on each. They really make you sit back in awe. Of course you have one on spread and one on straight focus and you can read a newspaper a couple k's down the road in either direction for miles  I'll be putting them into the ba when I get it. They are worth every penny and more, tbh.To prove it, as we all know, truck drivers are the third most inconsiderate people on the earth, after parking inspectors and holden drivers, and if you've ever faced a truck from the CEVA fleet on the highway, you'll understand what I mean. From memory, these guys (amongst others) utilise 4 HIDs up top and 2 or 4 down below, so yes, they are f**k bright. |

get my kit yesterday.. had a quick look at it and couldn figure out how to wire it so called a few places, everywhere but audiotech was booked out and they wanted $200 to do it, yeh right. watched a video on youtube and figured it out pretty easily.
yook about 5 mins for each side, not the neatest job but ill tidy it when i can be bothered. lights look soo much better, heaps brighter and produce a much cleaner light. just wondering if anyone has fitted the high beams, not sure if i want to beacause of the warm up time untill the light goes properly.

Hey guys,
I have a EL Fairmont with a set of H4 Xenon globes. I have the light going everywhere except where it needs to be. Inside the headlight are the normal shields (the oval shaped things). I would really appreciate if someone could possibly make me a set of shields to fit the globes as I am not very good with this sort of thing. I would be willing to pay for ones time. Hope someone can help me  Regards, John. |

i plan on getting the 8000k 55W HID from here - http://hidworld.com/
Question though, because the BF has a separate high beam light in its own reflector - i only plan on changing my low beam - which kit do i need to get, do i still need to get a combination high/low (bi-xenon) beam kit because when i put the high beams on the low beam globe actually gets brighter as well as the additional globe lighting up, or do i just need to get a single beam kit? Also has anyone bought from this site, they are pricey but when you compare the brightness (3800lm) they are much higher than the cheaper ones on ebay. thanks in advance for the info

i fitted a set of low beam only HID to my falcon, and they are great, as for losing high beam on that light, it was no problem for me as the lights are so good, i never need to use the high beam ( and i do alot of night highway driving, but i did adjust my lights down ( as not to stun oncomming cars) and i changed my high beam only globes to 120w, so if i do ever need them, i have them.
