How much did you pay for yours Brad ?
Where they just ebay cheapies ?

$345 off eBay.. Same ones as Regie except I opted for the 6500K rather than the 8000K

Vibrations kill halogen globes.. they dont kill HID. You should be fine :)

I suspect there's some problem other than just vibrations killing mine. But given these run an inverter/ballast hopefully that'd filter voltage related problems if that's a cause.

No doubt there'll be pics as soon as you fit them

Regie's don't really look very blue at all for 8000k

Anyone know what factory euro cars and the like with HID's run ?
I assume 95% of the ones you see on the road are factory, and many of those have a very purpley tinge to them, altho maybe that's in comparison to everyone elses yellow halogens...

4100K gives the best usable light, and its close to legal. My guess is that OEM's would be using somewhere around that colour temp.

Regies will look blue next to my 6500's.

People need to decide whether they're installing HID for improved, white lighting or rice factor (anything over 4100K is rice IMO) :P

Buying a HID Xenon conversion Kit is probably the single most important and necessary accessory you will ever buy for your car, your own and other drivers safety.

To see the colour of your bulbs you need to look on a angle from the front side of the car to the inside of the reflectors and not straight into the headlights or what you see on the road in front of you

The reason for the differences in colours that you see is like anything else in life, not all bulbs are exactly the same.
i.e. one manufacturer’s bulb temp. at say 7500K could look very similar to another’s at 6000K .
At end of the day it is the exact amount of gases and the exact ratio of their mixture and the exact discharge which determines the real temperature of the bulb.

Remember, you are trying to create a pure white colour as close as possible to daylight in front of your car for Driving purposes, not creating a Disco atmosphere in Blue or Purple to dance to.

The OEM kits in the market have been specifically manufactured for the vehicle in question and have fixed all these teething problems. You may have noticed that in majority of cases the size of these reflector are 1/3 to ¼ of the standard reflectors and if you look carefully they also have a very thick spheric magnifying glass in front of the headlight unit which acts like a sort of prisma filtering the very blue and purple colours to get the purest white possible.
The Temp of the OEM bulbs vary between 4500 to almost 5800K.
With the exception of few high end sports cars that need to see a bit further down the road because of their high speed capabilities.

Unfortunately FORD Australia and the other vehicle )which I don't want to mention it's name) are amongst the last ones to use Xenon Discharged headlights. Why I don’t know??????

Have fun,

I thought 13000k would be ok as au lights put out light good anyway. Only problem is they would be illegal id say :(

The only problem with the 13,000K ... is that the light becomes very purple ... and visibility is greatly reduced ... looks great ... but on a dark road ... with a very purple light .... imagine the clarity of the light ... very poor ... you'd be better of with standard halogen if that's the case.

I run 6000K ... and they are VERY WHITE .... the 8000K ones are slightly bluer ... but not really that much ... have compared side to side.

10,000K is getting pretty blue and light clarity descreases and so does light distance.

The smart EMAS control system moves the arc by using electromagnetics to create a swift and accurate vertical movement of the light source. By using the very latest in electronics the arc is move to give you both functions in a simple single discharge burner!
This means that The burner doesn’t shut down during the switching operation and so there is no delay in lighting up which is typical to Xenon conversion kit when you change from Hi to lo or vice versa. The kit is also genuine Xenon not a setup of xenon/halogen combined as you may have seen.

Mine does flick up to high immadiately ... when i get the correct load across the system (still figuring it out) .. there is no shutting off of light at all .... it's immediate ... I am just stuck on low-beam at the moment. But I have tested the high beam ... and seen it in action on a Lancer ... there's a mechanical "clunk" when switching up to high and back to low ... the beam moves instantaneously.

That's why I have the high/low switch box in there ... you can hear it work (when it does work ... hee hee).

I'll try and demonstrate it at the next night cruise if I can make the meeting point.

these HIDs are sensational in the pitch black.
i went for a national park run last night to adjust my lights and i must say they light up the road better than my high beams did :)

very happy with them

Regie, apologies if you have mentioned it already, but what brand HID's did you end up getting, from where and how much?

Thanks

Also when people see the purple tinge on some of the Euro cars ... that's the edge of the Projector beam (the top edge) ... as the light bends slightly on the curve projector and produce the flat top beam it gets a little bit of refraction happening cause the blue/gold hue that you see.

Happens on all cars running Projector lenses ... you just got to be on the correct angle to see it.
