Hi guys,
Diceded to add a Popup sunroof to my AU.
Thought I'd add some pics for you all to see.

After measuring 3 time, tapping up with plenty of masking tape so as not to scratch the paint. I took a jig saw to my beloved (only to make her prettier :D). Anyway the results speak for themselves. I think it looks pretty good.

Cutting the hole requires a leap of faith.

From the inside this time. As you can see After a little test ru I decided to cut the roof lining and roof at the same time.

Now trim the roof lining back another 10mm.

Fit the frame, not forgetting to apply the sealant to the underside.

I reckon pop ups the way to go. As we all know, power windows are great but the motors f**k up and they create so much more drama than winders. Same with a sunroof, pop up just eliminates another electrical thing that's bound to f**k up while still having a sunroof. Love the look too, especially on a ute or panelvan.
Yep, you got balls OP, Ive wanted to do a few cars with a pop up and only ever done a vc years ago, cutting that roof is a not turning back moment. Just cant do it lol

Good work, looks great. I am about to do a pop up sunroof in my car but its a different style ans looks more like the factory electric sunroofs when installed so hopefully it goes as smoothly as yours appear to have gone

i spoke to an installer awhile ago and he said the popup ones in the au arent legal, and only using ones like the hollandia 700 series are suitable as the frames in these equal/surpass the structural integrity of the roof after a big hole's been cut

Excuse me for being a little defensive but to simply dismiss all popup sunroofs that are all made different from differing materials using various installation methods is a bit bloody minded. I contacted the supplier before purchasing and informed them what it was going into and asked about structural integrity and also roadworthyness.

I would advise anyone considering this type of mod to do their homework before cutting.

MAD
The interior looks just as good as the day I did it. No sag has come from it as I feared it might. Couldn't be happier. Heart has finally returned to a normal rhythm. :D
