Hi Guys,
I'm looking to buy an 2000 AU XLS Ute. First of all what do you guys think of that model and is there anything to look out for?
Secondly can the front be modified so that i can convert it into a XR looking model with body kits and all that. Ive found a Black AU XLS Ute for $12500 with a trade in or i could go see a XR6 which i havent seen yet which is selling for $22000 without a trade in. Can you guys help me? I need to find out some info soon cos i need to let the guy know if i want the XLS.

im not sure about XLS but with the BA the only good thing about XR over XLS SSB (styleside box) is the front end. XLS shares seating with BA XR and in MKII has side skirts and (i think) 17" alloys.. might only be 16s but either way..still nice

On the XLS model they have the crappy looking triangle headlights and i want the twin headlight XR series type front end. Is there a easy way of doing it or would i be best off paying an extra 8 grand for an XR6?

naa the front end bolts on... i think u need headlights, bumper and bumper reenforcement...
BA fronts bolt on too i believe..
u'd put an XR front end on for heaps less than the $8k, altho wont be worth quite the same retail, and wont have the adaptive auto that some of the XR's had...

Oh ok. That iinteresting. So the brackets and stuff are the same? Wiring is the same? I'm worried about how it looks more then anything.
$16,990 for an XLS (Black) and $21,990 for a XR6 (Blue)

I've got a 2001 XLS V8 ute and it's great. A lot depends on whether you want 16" (XLS) or 17"(XR) wheels, as well as various other trim bits that an XR has over the XLS.
If it's just a bog standard 6, there'll obviously be a performance difference as well.
Don't forget the difference in insurance cost, also.
cheers, Bob

Do you know where you could get a XR6 replica body kit to fit an XLS? because insurance is about a thousand $ more for the XR6.
