I have an XR6 AUII ute and because it has a similiar ride height to a 4X4 I want to lower it.

My main question is what is the best way to lower the rear, lowering blocks or lowered leaf springs?
But also apart from that i have very little experience in lowering cars, so any pointers would be good. Eg - brands, how low to go, price, etc.

thanks

You've opened a can of worm with brands! I reckon they must all be pretty good as someone likes every brand there is! I've got pedders, but what do I know! Leaf springs are best to get reset, having said that I have lowering blocks in the ZD, but they are a reasonably cheap option to see what height to set up at first.

I was thinking of getting a pedders set up all round, but i just dont know how low to go and how much ride comfort im willing to sacrifice. So yeah i think i might take your advice and get lowering blocks put in, unless i can get some good photos of au utes that have been lowered.
hmmm too many choices i say..

You need reset/lowered leaves. Anything thicker than a 1" Block makes the lower shock mount hit the inner edge of the rim.

Where in Brisbane are you? I should be able to show you a 1" block in an AU ute from tomorrow arvo if the bloody thing gets back from the tuners!

Over wynnum/manly way...
Yeah, hate getting work done on mine too... It's good but it's seems like other people have your car more than you do.

It's not my ute, but my brothers. It's a Silhouette AU2 XR6 Ute with a Rotrex supercharger. Currently sitting locked up in BPS at Cleveland.

Well I got the same car as your brother but minus the supercharger. Would love to see how a supercharger would go... Could be a very good project for when I get off my P's.
I have a build thread (not much building but I thought I would at least start one)... But it has pictures. the-garage-f53/she-devil-auii-xr6-vct-ute-t106152.html
I would put it as my footnote but still trying to figure that out.

When you/your brother gets the ute back from BPS or if there are pictures up on here already could I see it. Ever since you mentioned it's supercharged, I have been very curious about how it all fits together.
Would be very much appreciated... Thanks

Btw, can anyone give me a dimensioned image of a lowering block to suit an AU falcon ute. I work at an engineering workshop, and I think I am just going to mill my own for free.

I'll throw up a thread on here tonight. This is a little sneaky sneaky with his ute too. P plate laws mean it's on the down low regarding rego details.....
