Hi there,

Had this 2002 AU3 wagon for just over a month and today experienced an accident.

Mates car was facing mine, but off to the side a bit. He went to start his car from outside standing up and didn't realise it was in gear. It got away from him (with me in front of it reverse grass barefoot skiing! hah, I got out of the way just in time.) and the middle of his front bumper collided with the right hand side of mine.

At the time the bumper was pushed in a LOT, but it popped itself back out.

Now, my car had a little damage around there before from what I assume was an accident near identical to this one, so the following problems are an issue:

1. Creases in the bumper (was one, now 2 possibly 3)
2. Scratches (was a few, now a few more)
3. Bottom of headlight damaged a little (now worse)
4. On the top of the headlight where the rubber seals are. Instead of following the guard down all the way it dips behind the guard about half way down leaving a gap and it looks . (was there before, now worse)
5. Bumper on right hand side where it meets the guard doesn't match up. It sort of sticks out a bit and just looked pooper. (was there before, now worse)

Basically, before this it was tolerable. With a little work I had it looking alright and matching up good enough, but with this second hit even with the adjustments it's noticeable. If I put the guard and light into their original positions the problem is more noticeable than ever.

By the same token, it looks almost as if the opposite side had pushed out by the same ammount the side in question had been pushed in. I'm no expert though, so it may not be that way at all.

The attatchment is an older picture, it's now worse.

I only bought this car a bit over a month ago at a cost of $8500, so I'm inclined to try to get it fixed as opposed to leave it like this.

If anyone has any idea what may have been damaged and/or possible costs to fix it... Any information, thoughts, ideas, anything at all would be greatfully appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Matt.

FA damage. If you've got ANY body work experience you could make that look presentable yourself.

Only real thing that's happened there is that your bumper and light mounts have probably been bent slightly. All you'd have to do to straighten it up is remove the light and bumper and bend them back!

After that, to get your bumper and quarter panel sprayed to get rid of the scratches shouldn't be any more than $250.

To drive in, drive out and get someone to remove and repair anything THEY think needs it you would be looking at about $1000.

First quote was $550, second one on the way and I'll see about getting a third tommorow.

His excess is $900 lol, so insurance won't be an issue here.

As it wasn't perfect before I'll be paying a portion of it. He'll just be up for the lions share of the bill. :)

Cheers :)
