hi guys,
might be a dunb question but im trying to replace the crome stip on my eb fairmont, i couldnt find any through my wrecker so i contacted ford who originally let me place an order for it, only to call me back a week later and tell me the actually dont supply the part anymore, so does anyone know where u can get a complete new chrome strip from in melbourne? and how much it is approx? cheers for the help, jono |

Ive got all the chrome strips replaced on my car when i got it re-painted and the panel beater had a hard time finding them and i think i was lucky. you may have to end up getting someone to custom make them for you as your right saying they are obselete.

Troyman found a local bloke here in Sydney that does the chrome strip for the front and rear bars. Unfortunately, there appears to be no replacement for the side strips. Check his build thread in the Garage.
I have heard of some people sticking the new bumber chrome strips on top of the exisiting side chrome. That might work for you. In my case, I am going to pull all the plastic and chrome off, and paint the strips in a bright aluminium colour. Cheers BenJ

Where are you located?
There is a place in Croydon, Melbourne where i got the chrome bumper inserts, and he had replacement chrome stick on stuff for the sides. If you look closely at your sides, the chrome is a stick on that peels off. I had to peel all mine off before he would stick the new stuff on for me... but it looked tops when it was done. I ended up buying a 25 metre roll of the bumper insert, did my EA, my uncles ED and sold the rest to a member here... cant remember who now. Cheers, Dodd |

There is a way to replace the chrome on the side molds on the EB/ED not sure if its cheap.
You need to sand the side molds clean, then use prepsol and use the chrome from a sticker or sign writing place, use the thin chrome vinyl, i have seen it done a few times if you use the thin vinyl not the thick stuff and prep it well it will stick on for a long time. |

ive got 4 door moulds with the chrome in the shed in brisbane, they are all front doors though. 2 left and 2 right. i was going to use them for my wagon but that got canned lol.

these guys do the strips for front and rear bumpers..Also got new panels, mirrors pretty much everything.. just find your part number that u want, and take it to a spare parts place (i know forsure supercheap deal with them) |

i have 2 metres of Genuine Ford EL chrome strip sitting in my bedroom
 but i guess that dosent help you lol.but back on topic, if i may slightly highjack the thread for a minute, can you still buy front and rear bar mouldings/inserts? ie. EL Ghia chrome strip part that goes in the rear bumper.

EA-ED chrome bumper inserts can be bought from your local auto paints supply shop by the metre, around $3.oo p/m. and alfy, dunno know about rear chrome but u can still buy el fairmont ghia front inserts with chrome strips genuine, around $250 for the pair.
