Hi all, my outside door handle is broken on the lh passenger side and someone decided it would be a good idea to put the child lock on.. So now i cant open the door from the inside or out.... :(

Does anyone know an effective way to get the door back open? (without destroying it). ive tried to get a fork to disengage the child lock but doesnt seem to be working.. Grrr ive even got a new door handle to install on it but i had trouble ages ago gettin the trim off.. almost felt like it was glued to the damn window seal.

Any help would be appreciated.

Andrew

once u have all the screws out of the trim the top needs to be lifted upwards to unhook the rubber seal. make sure u take the quarter glass trim off the inside too.
have a look at your other door trim dont ef have screws visible when u open the door on the front edge?

also if u have to wreck the trim to remove it u can always swap the xr cloth insert into a gli door trim to make them match, easy enough to swap

I can only get to about 1/2 of the screws to get the trim off... i might just have to source a spare door trim if worse comes to worse lol. So annoying. Yeah the first time i tried getting the trim off i tried lifting up the top to unhook the seal but it actual felt like it was glued on....

When my patience level is at a good state i shall retry..

Thanks for the tip :)

Is the exterior handle plastic all the way through and totally rooted?
May be able to run a large diameter drill or holesaw through the handle and get hold of the rod inside the door through the hole.
