Finished and painted the new intake i made last weekend, and it has come up really well. Heck, it almost looks professional! Who'dve thunk it?

Take a look in my Gallery to see a couple of pictures, cos i am too illiterate to be able to attach them directly to this forum page...

Going from the K&N Panel to a K&N pod though has actually lost a bit of performance, and i am looking at a few more options and changes to the current system as it stands. If anyone has a spare air-box top/lid, from doing away with there ol' panel filter for a pod, i would love to hear from ya, so let me know if you are happy to part with it.

Anyway, tell me what you think - good, bad or ugly - I'm not fussed.

Water is the least of my worries actually. I dont know if you have heard of water induction, but a small amount of water getting in to the engine is not a bad thing for a number of reasons, including having a high latent heat potential.

Most water will just fall straight through the filter anyway, and will not be sucked up into the intake. It takes a fair bit of vacuum to suck any reasonable size water particles through the air, and with out a turbo or blower, i dont think thats gonna happen.

Will be puting on some mesh this weekend though just to stop the bigger bugs.

looks good, but i'm pretty sure there are legality issues with it, specifically concerning the radius of the leading edge of the scoop, IIRC any forward facing part of a scoop has to have a minimum of a 5mm radius.....

just think of what would happen if you hit someone and they got clipped by the scoop.....

I'm not saying that in my situation, water in through this entry is a beneficial thing, just that its not the end of the world...

There are certainly benefits of water injection systems, and its not too difficult to find information on it, so i am not going to explain it all here. Not many people use it in Australia, but there are kits around that are pretty effective.

As far as roadworthy complaince issues go, i will see what happens over the next little while. Besides if someone gets hit with a 1600kg car, a fibreglass scoop on the bonnet is the least of their worries... :D

my engine bay, notice the airbox lid, the pod filter will suck water so currently running panel again till i bother finished a cover for the pod above as it does absorb A LOT of water in the rain and unfortunately it keeps freakin raining every 2 days heavily in the city/airport.

I think for legality reasons, a 100mm circle must be able to roll over the scoop
