Hi there everyone...I'm Peter and live in Sutherland area of Sydney. I have just joined this site and have always had a passion for Falcons. I've owned the following

1977 XC Fairmont GXL 5.8L V8
1981 XD Fairmont 4.1L
1985 XF Fairmont Ghia
1993 EB2 Fairmont

I now own a BA Falcon Classic in Shockwave which I bought new in 2004 and absolutely love it. It is really an XT but has a few additiobal features...DVD Player, 6 stack CD, Cruise, Power Windows all round, 16" alloys and boot spoiler. Naturally I would have preferred the XR6 but gave into my kids' demands for a DVD player.

I got the car as part of my recent divorce settlement (righfully so) and having been restricted as to things I could do to to improve the car in the past I'm now ready to let fly.

I joined the site for 2 reasons.

1. I'm after ideas on what I can do to improve the car (both externally and mechanically) so it would great to chat with guys with similar cars , compare notes, etc

2. To make contact with blokes with a similar interest ...ie the BA/BF Falcon/Fairmont/Fairlane/LTD whether it be an XT or right up to the FPV models.

I'm thinking of doing the following to my car

Installing the XR body kit including front end
Upgrading the wheels to probably 18" x 8

I'm intertested in the idea of lowering the car but understand F all about it , the implications, whats required, the purpose other than cosmetic etc so would lolve to get to understand all about this

Heres a photo of my car in its current form

I look forward to hearing from you all

Peter

welcome to fordmods mate.
if your looking at upgrading the body kit then look at the fpv side skirts.
lowering the car mean you need to go slower over bump but you have a lower centre of gravity so you can take corners faster so more fun.lol

Hey Pete, welcome to the forums.

I reckon the XR kit looks really good on the BA, it's not over the top, it's nice and subtle but has a slightly mean streak about it. So I think you are on the right track there.

As for loweing it, I was the same, not sure what was involved etc, but I have to say after doing it the car actually feels safer to drive, and it's much more fun. The only thing you need to change as far as driving habit is avoid deep tracks in the road, don't park too close to curbs (front or back in) and look out for speed humps, just slow down in car parks basically.

Look forward to seeing your beast evolve.

Cheers.
