hi guys,

does anyone know where i can get some of that plastic paint protector sheeting, or film from.

its the stuff that is found on panels of newly delivered cars, or on whitegoods, to protect from scratches.

i am doing a long road trip out west and want to put it on my car to protect from stone chips. there is stuff available, but its expensive and sorta permanent (the porsche guys use it to protect their duco). I just want short term stuff just to do the trip, and will take it off when i get there.

any ideas?

i reckon head down to your local whitegoods store or car dealer, they may have some that they don need, and probably it will be big enough to be cut to fit the front of your car.

good idea too!

Contact 4wdmonthly or 4x4 australia mags. I can't find the article here, but one of them did an article on a film that you paint on to the 4x4 (or car) and peel off once you've done your trip.

thanks guys.

that supercheap stuff is good but expensive - $40 for a little bit that wouldn't even cover a fender. Its mainly directed towards motorbikes.

i've seen that sprayon stuff - looks good, and may lean towards that.

the film i'm talking about is also found on stainless sheet metal
