i just had my front and rear bar painted on the XR and it looks to be a darker shade then the rest of the car ... the panel beater said this is normal because one is metal and the other is plastic ... but so much of a difference is a little sus ... any comments ... thanx

I got an a repro front bar on mine (plastic) and the paint is lighter, so could well be true

bah.

he is too f**k slack/hopeless to colour match it properly

i had a new rear bar put on my car after i was rear ended by a painter i know well. So new plastic right next to 11 yr old paint on metal

you ccannot tell the difference under any light

My understanding is that the primer they use has a big affect on the end result. It came out of the factory with correctly matched paint on the plastic parts.. can't see why a decent panle shop can't match it.

i agree sounds like he is not capable of the job!!!!

When a new car is painted ford sprayed the paint onto metal and plastic as well and it matched perfectly :idea: ....paint is paint, no matter what you put it on it should be the same :!:

Just excuses for f**k workmanship :evil:

Is it just a plain colour or metallic colour?

If it's metallic then the same paint can be sprayed to look like different colours.

Exactly, different base colours can create different shades and colours kind of like a candy also different textures can cause the metallic flakes to sit up more creating a different effect and also if anyone has noticed silver XR's and HSV's always have different shades of silver on the bars, Silver would have to be one of the worst colours to paint even putting an extra coat of clear on can sometimes make the colour go darker.
