It does look good that way I actually did not think of that mate. Definitely has a different look. I guess it would have come down to time and effort though haha

I do like it,

I have a set of 18 inch ford rims of which ALL of them have gutter rash too some extent,
What would be the best way too fix the rash? Any ideas?

And how much would you be looking at too paint the rims? Like the first posted photo?

Hey mate, I have seen a friend of mine do a DIY gutter rash repair and it turned out alright. Now I don't know of its the best way to go about it but he used body filler from Supercheap and bought some Beige Septone One Step Filler. Then of course used various grades of sandpaper (wet and dry). He had to paint his entire wheels to get everything to look right.
Not sure how long the body filler option lasts but it's been 12 months since he did It and there are no cracks or filler falling out. Do research online for DIY gutter rash restoration.

As for the paint... I literally was drinking one afternoon with some mates and thought it would be a good idea to paint the inserts to tie me over until new wheels. Remember to take your time if you are going to do it.
Lightly sand surface, wash with soapy water.
Spray Paint - I used Charcol metallic paint (can't remember brand) from Bunnings $15.00
Clear Coat - I used some clear coat from Bunnings $20.00 (apply plenty of clear coats)

Quantity of spray cans will depend on whether you are doing the entire wheel.

You may also like to use proper wheel paint from an automotive store. I haven't had issues with my painted inserts but it's just what people reccommend

Hope that helps

appreciate that dylan, i have just looked at the wheels again to see how bad they actually are so i wasnt going by memory....

i will upload a picture of the rims ina sec, but i also found another thred about polishing them, it looks good. but im not sure whether i should just save up and bit the bullet and get new ones ordo more research and try it myself. just worried that by doing it myself ill screw it up :P
