G'day how do you know when the pillow balls and that have gone in the rear of the car?

What do you mean pillow balls, they have bushes?
Pillow ball usually refers to solid mounting points, no bushes.
Anyway, best way is to visually check bushes for damage, although if they are badly worn they may be knocks.
Also check suspension components for any 'play'.
