Yes silicon spray will work for a little while but if the windows are getting stuck half way its not going to work, motor starts to wear out plastic gears inside start sheering and you hear grinding noises thats how mine started out.

Also silicone spray is odorless so its alot safer than using RP7! Well some of them arent but the can that i bought was the odorless type.
 Probally why it costs so much

Tried what? May of been more serious then, a quick bandaid fix is all the silicone spray is.

Do you just spray the silicon stuff on the edges of the windows or do you need to pull the door trims off?

Hya ,I work on Taxis some of them have done a million k`s.
Yes by all means use the silicone spray but in the case of EF/EL when the glass tilts is a sure sign of a worn out mechanism.but however with the AU series we find that the door switches get full of crap and need to be cleaned out,it is simple 15 min job simply pop the switch out of the armrest and tap the switch to get the dust etc out of it,I have even pulled switches apart and cleaned the contacts.

I did my NL just today. worked a freakin treat. I had the front of the window edge grabbing so a gap appeard at the back. about 30mm gap. I sprayed it directly into the runners towards the bottom of the window frame on both sides.. a fair bit.. say . a 3 second full spray....the first wind up ALREADY was unstuck and slid up smooth as. I have to admit i was very surprised. I sprayed again and worked the window up and down a bit but it never really got much better than the first go. 808 Silicon Spray from Dlck Smith. I hear the Nulon one and others have thinners in them..and very fumey....the 808 isn't thinned. $18 for 330ml. It doesnt come with a nozzle tube thingy.. like WD40 does, but if you spray close enough with a cloth ready in the other hand for oversrpray you be fine. I did my drivers side as well .. which had no problem and now its going up faster. I'll do them again on the weekend and the rears too., this is obviously allowing less resistance for the window travel and therefore less strain on the motor and the reg. Shame to buy such a big can for $18 when you might only use 1/5th to do all 4 windows twice. But.. once a quarter or once a year maintenance and it will last a while.

soo many cars come into work with windows not working at all and switch contacts burnt out purely because people dont lubricate the window tracks, so its worth doing

Been told its the window regs My drivers reg is stuffed. Just spray the side that the window is grabbing on. Did this on my drivers window 8 months ago and it is still working.
