I'm wondering if these tiny strips are not painted on..

They have no height.. I mean I oversprayed over one the other day and it was invisable so it isnt' standing out from the paintwork..

were any of the EL's released with thin painted on white pinstripes near the top of the door body?

no im sure they were stuck on, try the prepsol first and if that doesnt work try the rubber wheel.

prepsol will not take off the pinstripe, it will assist you in taking the glue off

Try turps soaked into a rag and hold the soaked rag on the pin stripe for a minute or so and it should soften it up enough to pick it off...

I think you guys need to see a photo..

this thing is so faint and thin that in some places it fades right out.. it is very very thin.. and neither turps or prepsol made any difference . (just come back in from trying it again.)

starting to think I'll have to sand it off..

try a water based rubbing compund, (its like a really light sand paper in a past form) the stuff works miricals, we got alot of stuff off, including ruber that was worked onto the paint behind the ruber on the EF side molds.
