Hey guys, im hoping you can help me out with my completely stock xr6... she is getting almost a bit of a knock at idle when sitting at the lights etc... it only does it when its at normal operating temperature... ive changed the oxy sensor and cleaned out the throttle body changed the plugs and leads and have been running 98 octane fuel just in case it is knocking (which i doubt it is)... but nothing has seemed to work... im still getting really good milage 10 litres per 100ks... but this rough running is really getting to me... has anyone got any ideas?

What model is it mate as in year etc.
I had a similar problem in my ED turned out to be the rotor button and dizzy cap. Changed those items and leads and the car hasnt missed a beat since. If its coil pack get the coils checked out.

cheers fellers, to twin turbo bmx its a 98 el xr6, ill look into dizzy cap and ignition problem cos thats what it sounds like.... thanks for the advice...
to lil lincon i cant see it being a lifter, there is no mechanical noise that suggests that sort of issue. but thanks for the reply... |

ah ok, well u never said anything about if it sounded electrical, how can an electrical prob give a knock???????? if its a dock something must be hitting something else!

By knock, i ment like pre-detonation of a cylinder...i have heard that being described as "knocking" before... sorry mate maybe i should have used the term pre-detonation... thanks for the input tho...

hey dude im actualy from lawson i got a EL xr6 98 aswel a blue 1 you've probly seen it about but mine idles ruff aswell im thinking it could be a injector or a miss in the dizzy

Hey Brad, i think i may have seen your xr around before...
My xr's white with big fat cop bait green p plates on it lol... Im sending mine in to my mechanic so he can suss it out very shortly ill keep you posted.... Hopefully i can help you out with yours when i figure mine out....cheers |

lol well myn has big fat red p plates on it lol and i don't have a licence no more lol 108km/h out of forest elbow mount panorama 6 months and $1600 lol
