Yeah EFs have the latch at the top, so when you pop the bonnet you reach between the lower lip of the bonnet and the top part of the bar which comes up around the lights (not hollow). If I attach the grille to the bonnet I won't be able to get to it. I'm thinking now about having the grill spring loaded and attached to the top of the front bar so it folds forward when you need to access the catch and then springs back into place.

That Sounds like a good Idea,

Your own personal letterbox so people can leave stuff in your grill, so you know they have visited your car.

Nahh, just joking. That would be cool. Why not remove the latch alltogether and get some Xy bonnet pins??

Just for that race look.

Hyena, what about using a Fairmont bonnet latch?
that would have it sitting at the bottom and be better suited to your front bar.

I don't know if it'd work with the mesh there though - it wouldn't be terribly strong and would probably end up getting bent up after poking your hand underneath after opening the bonnet a few times...

I don't know what the legalities of bonnet pins are, but I suspect removing the latch all together would be a no no.

If you were to create a surround for the mesh though. Sort of like an EA Falcon Grill. around the mesh it would strengthen up the mesh and you wouldn't have any dramas with the mesh bending.

good work mate..
definately looks the part and unique..

Any thoughts of changing the rims to something bigger? rims don't look close to as agressive as the kit..

No plans for bigger rims at this stage - do you guys think resprays, bodykits, highly worked motors and other mad mods grow on trees ?!

Aside from not wanting to spend the dosh on new rims, I'd have to find a new insurance company because I can't go any bigger than 17s at the moment.

More pics shortly

Hyena, if you haven't solved the bonnet latch yet have you considered using a Focus latch? Might be something to think about... :)

The Focus's is a key-operated bonnet lock hidden away behind the Blue Oval grille badge (designed to prevent the bonnet being opened from inside the car)

Still haven't got the little spat bit that goes up the rear arch. A few of my mates last night reckoned it didn't need it, but I think it sticks out a little too far at the back to go without...

I must get those stockies off the back today!

i agree with you on the spats, it definatly needs them. It will make it flow with the rear bar a bit more

If you can modify it properly, could you make it so the ford emblem swings up and there is the hood release leaver behind it? Or would that be a stupid idea?

I already thought of that, but I think it's in the too hard basket

(likewise with the focus idea by the sound of it)
