Yeah I'm disappointed with how the rear bar looks with it all together :(
I think even the standard XR skirts would have been too pissy for that rear bar...

I've been talking to a mate tonight though and he reckons we'll be able to pull off modding it :D

Here's a photochop colored in - front bar and are skirts untouched (aside from roughly drawing in the bit on that back of the skirts that goes on the arch) and the rear is lowered a little how I'd like it

edit: red stripe removed :)

Hyena,

That looks much better. Now the only issue is trying to get the car to look like that.

Starting to look like a VS clubby at the front there ?? anybody else ???

I think once its all a dark color itl look hotter. White is just to plain. Shows to many lines, grooves and so forth.

The GT skirts are however the greatest assest..

Sorry but jury's very much still out on the kit.

Points for being beyond the scope however.

Same as it looked in the last lot of photos I posted :P

I'll pull the skirts back off this weekend and start sanding and prepping them properly. They won't go back on then until it's sprayed and ready.
That's probably all I'll get done at the moment as I haven't got alot of time to work on it.

It's kind of at a standstill mate. It's hard because it's my daily driver so I can't really tear it apart and go to town on it. At the stage where I need to start putting the kit in high fill and primer, but it's going to cost me a fortune if I have to do it all from spray cans a bit at a time. My mate who's got all the spray gear lives an hour away so that doesn't help either, so I can't do little bits here and there.

So it still look like it did in the last lot of pictures, grey front and back bars and blue skirts  It's hard too when it comes to the weekend my missus cracks the s**t if I run straight out and spend any spare time I have working on the car... :?

I also found out that do paint it phantom I have to put down a good light base coat first and then the colour over the top as the way they have to make it (ie non genuine ford paint) is pretty much a candy and it has about 3 different pearls in it. I'm also tossing up painting it a different type of candy if I have to go down this road.

Ideally if I could find someone who could do a decent backyard spray job I'd rather pay them to do it - so if anyone in sydney knows such a person then let me know! There's been a few people in melbourne offering such services but I haven't seen any around sydney.

I think you have been given a bum steer on the phantom, I am pretty sure that it is not a 3 layer pearl actually I'm positive it is not a 3 layer, also If your not an experienced painter I would not paint it in a candy because you have paint the whole side in one go and not individual panels other wise you will end up with different shades of colour,

I'll be painting the car all in one go, but the primer may possibly go on in dribs and drabs, depending on how I end up doing it...

I'll speak to a few other people about the colour and how to do it. I was originally going to just cut back the original paint work and spray over that but this last guy said I have to prime the lot as it'll show thru and that's how they achieve the depth of the colour... :?

To be honest, I haven't had a really indepth up close look at a phantom BA, just seen them around and though it was a nice colour. I wouldn't have thought it was a candy type paint from the examples I've seen...
Altho he did say that because that paint isnt available in acrylic (what I'm going to be painting in) this is the best way to get a close match.

looks sick!
front end definately has the commonwhore look going for it, replica bar from them :P
It looks nice though, i hate the cars but i like that kit :)

A Mate of mine is an spray painter, after hes done spraying my kit i'll ask him about it for ya.
Dont expect anything too special though, good quality dont get me wrong but i dont know if he can do 3 layer pearls and stuff (never asked).
He does good work though and can airbrush.

Well see, should have my kit primed this weekend, getting paint tomorow and maybe take him a few days to spray then i'll ask him if hes interested in any work :)
