There aren't a lot of 18 inch wheels made in the E series offset and the price of 18 inch rubber is plain rude.

18" aren't that bad, i'm looking at a set of 18" BSA with tyres and bolt on adapters (yes they are legal) for $2200. should have them mid this year.

Me too Martin! I'm itchin to get them on the car. Still in Melbourne, should have them next week but have to wait a little before I can get rubber for them, I'm a bit broke now ;) Guess they'll make an awesome lounge room display for a few weeks, my Mrs is going to love that! LOL.
I think they will look sweet on my colour car.

Paint them and the wheel hubs matt black. Unless you've got upgraded brakes to show off, I like the understated look.

Plus it hides the rust nicely. One of the best 'looks' mods I've done. Hard work, took all day one wheel at a time. But the results are IMO well worth it.

(edit: I removed and deoxidised everything first, didn't just paint over the rust lol)

That looks sweet. I was thinking black or silver hubs and calipers. Leaning toward silver at this point. Going to give the uprights a coat too. Red, Blue etc would look crap on a Cinnamon coloured car.
Detailed the brakes to within an inch of their life on my last car, as you said, its worth the time.

Be sure to post some pics (especially if you do them silver), I'd like to see how they look.

My understanding is that rims can only go +2inches from factory trim - i think even the XRs only had 15inch...

That, and the fact that there are not many wheels made to suit the E series offset.

EL XR's IIRC were 16", GT's were 17"...... you can go to 19"s without any hassle just by getting the tyre placard for an EL GT from ford.....

My Fairmont tyre placard includes a 16" fitment, so legally I could go 18s but I like the 17s.

You're getting the BA XR8 copies too!?
Paying $875 for them and $66 to ship from Melb to Adel. How much did you pay for them?

Darin.

i'm assuming thats w/out tyres? i haven't actually paid for them yet - associated tyre wholesalers over here stock them, and they are 10mins from my place, so i've just gotta get around to it! they start at $1350 incl remoulded tyres (which are pretty damn good from all accounts!)

Yep, without rubber. Not going to pay to freight rubber here when I can have it fitted here.
