I currently have the standard 15" factory alloys on my EL Fairmont running 225/60R15 tyres.

I am buying a set of BA XR8 copies in 17" and E series offset for the beast.

My question is will 235/45R17 tyres keep the same, or near enough, rolling circumference as the current set up? I believe its very close but thought I'd ask a few of you to confirm this.

im running 235/45/R17 on mine and the stock ones were 195/65/R14 i think. and thy new rims are only 1% bigger in rolling diameter so i think u will be fine with the sizes

Hey Darin, with the 235 there may be a slight difference in rolling circumference, but you're looking at 1.18% difference. Even at 100km/hr the inaccuracy on the speedo would be just over 1km/hr....

I think you'd be fine (and I look forward to seeing the new rims on there!!!)

My understanding is that rims can only go +2inches from factory trim - i think even the XRs only had 15inch...

That, and the fact that there are not many wheels made to suit the E series offset.

Don't get me wrong we don't go around doing burnouts all time only when the time is called for but once the next set of tyres go on will be looking for a cheep set of rims to chuck on...not that you can do this for spare of the moment skids! They are pricey but that type of tyre is awesome they stick to the road and in the wet they feel safe as.
