looking at smoothing out my xh a bit. i want to get rid of the tarp strap clip holes, door locks and even thinkin about getting rid of the door moulds completly and fitting some flat sheet so that the panels are dead straight and smooth. my panel beater recons with the heat from the welder and the thiness of the metal there will be major distortion in the metal. im sure someone has done this already. did you have any dramas?

cheers.

it's doable, but it isn't easy, but most competent panel beaters should be able to handle it.

competent

See if you can get onto a sheety about it, if he's any good he should be able to controll the heat, with the use of a pulse tig, or something similar, not sure it would be too cheap, unless you could organise slab payment :D have you checked to see if its actually legal to do that? I mean some buracrat may have a whinge about it, but I guess if you used the same thickness and metal it should be fine? I'm not to sure, but I'd look into it.

Won't the silver solder crack and break loose after a while? As above, a decent panel beater can mig weld the holes, so there gone for good, and will use minimum bog.
