Previous owner installed a set in my EL. Work awesome, but they may be illegal.

I think you can get the kits on ebay for around $200

I have researched this matter and found that xenon head lamps are leagal in queensland provided they are fitted in such a way thay do not distract the you or the opposeing driver, thay also have to mesure up to the type of light that your car takes. for example mine is a H4.

Look on eBay, you have H1 for low beam and H3 for high, I run both but I probably would not advise doing the high beam if you will be switching from high to low a lot, HID's require to warm up, so there is a delay on full lighting at first, then on restart they can either be quick or fail to restart for some time like industrial lighting in buildings.

I have one H1 bulb that has problems restarting if switched off and restarted within a few minutes, it is the bulb as I have tried it with three other ballasts.

Awesome lights I would recommend them to anyone, I am currently looking for a H4 bulb holder out of a high series light to try in my EL lights, I am unsure if the light pattern would be right, but if it is right I would buy a H4 high/low HID kit to do the job, this will stop having to turn the high beam bulb on and off.

yes, they will fit your EF Futura.
The Xenon's are great in the XR projectors, but i'm not too sure how the light will go with the EF/EL headlights. They may shine light out in weird directions, but i'm not sure.
There was a guy on FF.com.au that had the kits for $250 for the H1's and $300 odd for the H4 kits. But they're GE (General Electric) kits, and come with everything, and are just plug and play.

i have done it to our EF future headlamp. They work great.

Thus far, I have installed them to EF Ghia and DF LTD. All 3 sets working great and cant complain.

Easy to install but found doing it properly requires the front bar to be removed inorder to hide the wiring. However, its rewarding and haven't had any trouble from other motorist nor police.

Has anyone done the Xenon conversion to a BA yet?
And, if so, how did they go, are they too bright for other drivers...?

THey are differen types of globes,
If you have an EL GLi/Futura/Fairmont/Fairlane, etc.
They all use H4 globes, which have the low beam and highbeam filaments in the one globe.
Whereas the EL XR's use a H1 globe, because the Low and High beam lights are in different housings (the quad lights on them). So the Low beam has only the single filament in that globe.

Hope that kind of makes sense.

well the ghey EF headlights use a h1 for outer beam * single filament, and they only have a spot light in the middle of the headlight for high beam.

unlike ea- ed, then au 1/2/3 ba/bf which have h4 as said above which are much better light setup to begin with.

see avatar as to my soloution heehehe
