Yeah stupid thing is they're actually not as bright or vision as the 4-6000k ones.

and coppers because they are obviously illegal. I've never had any trouble with my 6000K HIDs in either my EL or the GT-P. And I do a lot of cruising. I picked up the GT-P in October, it's already got over 10,000KM on it.

so in your XR do you find that the spread of light is "pencil focused" or a nice wide beam?

If you're talking to me, my EL has GLi/Futura spec headlights, not XR projectors. Answering anyway, after the HIDs the beam was significantly wider than with halogen bulbs, and longer (further down the road). You'd see cat eyes being lit up from a good kilometre away.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-inten ... harge_lamp

A new (to cars) form of lighting. Some Euro/Japs have been using them for a few years. Holden has just started with the new Caprice, and Ford have yet to do so.

It's more energy efficient. A 35W HID bulb puts out more light than a 55W halogen bulb, and does so with a whiter (more useful to our eyes) light.

From this shot you can see the colour difference between HIDs and normal halogen bulbs.

HID lowbeam, halogen spotties.

jeebus. talk about a HUGE difference. I assume there is no real way to adjust the spread of light but only can adjust the aiming of the beam within your normal headlight.

you can buy on ebay at very cheap prices i bought some 18mths back for around 10bucks but they only lasted around 2-3mths,they had japanese writing all over the box,you can buy better quality at most auto shop including bigw but they are 3 or 4 times the price but reputable brands.they must be installed with gloves on as residue from fingers will deteriate the bulbs, that was about the only english on the box.
