No it doesn’t contradict what I tested. On the passenger side I was getting an open circuit between the two wires, ie. Each wire was feeding back to the airbag module as expected.

On the drivers side I was getting a short between the two wires at the airbag end. This was due to the connector shorting the wires when the plug is removed (the one I missed), as to ensure that 0V would be across the airbag, preventing any unwanted operation ;)

Glad to see you sorted it. That black connector you found didn't happen to have a red insert with three wires coming from it. Found one last night as well but couldn't see where it went. Theres too much wiring in there and I'm too big to fit in the footwell to look up properly. Any hints as to how to find its connection without taking the dash out again! Thanks

That’s the connector I found. It goes up under the dash, just near the fuse box. When you put the dash back, you would have had to connect two connectors, an orange and a white(??) one on to the back of where the fuse box is. Its to the drivers door side of that. You will have to feel around for it, because I couldn’t see it but only feel it.

When you have found it, put the plug back in with the clip side (lump) facing the drivers side of the car (drivers door) and the flat side facing the console. Then the code should change to a 52 (intermittent or repaired open circuit) which can be cleared.

Good luck

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go.
